The purpose of pre-marital and marriage counseling is to teach and assist couples in applying in their relationships what the bible says about marriage. Marriage is a CONVENANT OF COMPANIONSHIP. God instituted and designed marriage. There are two things that are the heart of marriage, intimacy and companionship. The relationship between the husband and wife is similiar to that between Christ and the church.

I have seen the following general patterns in relationships: There is romance at the beginning because of the newness of the relationship. Subsequently, the newness wears off, and one becomes more cognizant of the spouse's faults, the "mask" is taken off, and "reality" starts setting in. Some couples indicate that they have "lost their loving feeling" toward their husband or wife. The couple then comes into counseling seeking either permission to resign themselves from the marriage, through divorce, or they they decide to commit themselves to reconstruct their marriage by being obedient to God's Word. I

Cleanwater's Pre-marital/Marital Counseling Program is designed to teach the couple what the scriptures say about companionship, husband and wife's roles, conflict resolution, communication, anger, financial management, spiritual beliefs, children and parenting, family and friends, divorce, and sexual issues.

Here at Cleanwaters Counseling Ministries are prayer is not to "save" your marriage but for obedience to God's Word which leads to true companionship and spiritual maturity.
